UX Writer Jobs: Uber Eats, RetailMeNot & OpenClassrooms

UX Writer Jobs: Uber Eats, RetailMeNot & OpenClassrooms
By Gordon Macrae • Issue #4 • View online

I’m writing this issue from the beautiful island of Guernsey. The older I get the more I count myself extremely fortunate to have grown up there. It’s tiny, 7 miles by five miles but over 60,000 people live there so it feels like a small town not an isolated island.
C and I came back for a workcation. We ate well, swam in the sea every day, had bbqs on the beach, swam in the sea every evening. Mostly it was a lot of swimming in the sea and hanging out at the beach. Wonderful.
The dog-days of summer are usually not great for jobs but I’ve got a handful for you to pick through this week. Including a couple of junior positions for people looking to get on the ladder.
There are currently 326 of you on this list. I don’t have a good link for this. On with the show.
USA
RetailMeNot are hiring a Senior UX Content Strategist in Austin. Hat tip to Rachel for this listing. If you have jobs, send them my way. You might even get this top spot.
SAP are hiring for a User Experience Writer Job. I can’t tell if they’re being purposely matter-of-fact with this listing. If that were true, shouldn’t all roles have ‘job’ in the title? You’ll have 2-5 years of experience and be in Palo Alto for this one.
If you self-identify as a “foodie” then I can serve you up this Senior UX Writer role at Uber Eats. Fill your boots. Side note: Continuing the obituaries thread from last week here’s a moving tribute to Jonathan Gold.
The Zillow Group may sound like an organisation hell-bent on global domination but they’re actually a real estate company and they’re looking for a Senior UX Content Strategist in San Francisco. As befits a senior role, you’ll work across Product and Marketing.
One North Interactive are hiring for a Senior UX Strategist in Chicago. You’ll have 6-10 years of experience with a working knowledge of HTML / CSS & JS and a “significant presence” in client relationships. Unclear if this means late-night WhatsApping.
Solomon Page have an ad up for an Associate UX Copywriter in Los Angeles. I’m starting to see more of these which is positive. You’ll need to be able to “think strategically, but also willing to roll up your sleeves to get work done”. It’s in LA though, doesn’t everyone there wear t-shirts?
Europe & Remote
Salt are a recruitment agency on behalf of the government and they’re looking for a Content Designer in Chelmsford. Shhh, that’s where GCHQ are….
Sainsbury’s are hiring for a Content Designer in Avebury. This one has more design requirements (Adobe CC, Sketch, HTML / CSS) than your average word-slinging job. You will need to travel to Coventry once a week, if that’s a dealbreaker.
Jimdo are hiring for a Remote UX Writer to work with their team of writers and designers across eight languages. Contract to Feb. ‘19, you’ll have 3-5 years of experience.
Crowdhouse are looking for a UX Writer to join their product team in Switzerland. Native German / Swiss-German speaker. Contact Jeremy Hulette for more info.
OpenClassrooms are still hiring for a UX Writer in Paris. You’ll be working on their English-Speaking markets and report to the VP of Product. Fancy.
Interesting
Robbie Bernal published a field guide to being the first writer at a startup. Struggling to prove the ROI of UX Writing at your company? Kinneret Yifrah has your back. Lauren Pope has all the good words about bridging the gap between design and content.
